November 2017 I had completed my first
Burnished by Tin Can Knits from their Mad Colour book. Just in case you may have had a million important things happen since then below is a picture of my version.

Burnished #1 |
The three yarns used were a variegated Arne and Carlos' sock yarns, Regia, from Schachebmayr in color 02460, a solid turquoise Lion Brand, Sock Ease, color 178, Snow Cone; and an unknown tan yarn also in sock weight. This Burnished #1 lives in Wisconsin with one of my aunts. Mom really liked it and because there was so much of all three yarns leftover I made a second version for her this past spring.

Burnished #2 |
All three yarns used in #2 are the same as #1, but because the tan yarn was running out faster than the other two, it was switched with the variegated and then the turquoise had to become the edging lace. IMHO the second takes better advantage of the three colors. Whatever your opinion about the color usage you should know Burnished #2 lives on the farm with Mom. When I can, I wear this version in Wisconsin. One of the advantages or disadvantages, depending on your point of view, with Mom is we both wear and like the same colors. Perhaps to not cause problems between us a Burnished #3 should be made in 2019. The colors will be different, but they will have to work with jeans, both in blue and black. The odds are very good the perfect combination already exists in my stash.
Taking of that photo with the peeling paint of the garage at the farm has its own story. Mom wasn't convinced hanging the shawl on the handle of the garage door was a good idea. There was some quiet comment about the fact the paint is peeling. In her typical way she didn't come right out and say she didn't think the photo would work, but I speak Mom speak and picked up on her concern about success. When I showed her the results, however, she said something like, it turned out much better than she expected. I love that rustic background.
Speaking of pics here's one from the neighborhood. Fall is definitely here with winter close on its heels. There was a hard freeze last night (meaning it will be below freezing for much of the area for much of the night) and I saw a few very light snow flakes falling as I drove around yesterday. My friends and neighbors are sick of seven days without full sunshine. As a long standing citizen of the Pacific Northwest, the gloom doesn't impact me nearly as much as the cooler temperatures.
