Time left in the Twin Cities is short. Dr. Seuss expresses it best for me:
“How did it get so late so soon?
“How did it get so late so soon?
It's night before it's afternoon.
December is here before it's June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?”
Perhaps you are feeling this way about the impending holiday season or maybe even your holiday knitting. It is common for knitters to be frantic this time of year. I, at least for this year, am rather relaxed. I determined about a month ago I wouldn't get a Xmas stocking completed for Miss M for Xmas and then just let the guilt go. My stress took place as I planned this trip and now I am virtually holiday stress free. It is a first.
Before I leave there are a few parting thoughts to share.
An all black cat is difficult to photograph |
- I have lots of fans of the chunky yarn cowl made several times this year and last. (See the second photograph in this post.) While out and about with a friend wearing one, she was asked multiple time about it. Since I was there she would comment I made it and discussions often ensued. Most of these admirers were in their 20-30's. This sparked an idea to make a couple for my daughter-in-laws. To my surprise, there is another admirer as well, of the four-legged kind. Bits (short for Little Bits, pictured above) is a rather jumpy cat, but somehow she and I get along. She loves the gray chunky cowl I gave her owner. One evening I watched her roll, pat, and hide in the cowl. Maybe it was Mike, my cat, she enjoyed about that cowl, whatever it is she is enamored with it.
- The Feather Lace Boot Toppers by Paula McKeever are coming together. The first needed to be started a couple of times to get the needle size just right, but here they are all finished.
Boot toppers or cuffs made with combined Silver and Finnley Heather fingering yarn from Knit Picks |
- A cold, picked up from Miss M (she shared it with her parents as well) has slowed me down lately. The last couple of days were "days off" resting and getting better. My good companion, knitting, was with me. That would explain why I was able to complete the boot toppers. I want to be well on the mend for traveling and am looking good for that to be the case.
Now I must go because it is getting late so soon!
the boot toppers are brilliant!!
