Last week was the last full week I will spend here in Minneapolis. On Wednesday of this week I start the drive back. But before I get all sentimental, let me show you some of the knitting completed this last week.
First I want to show you the knitted car in action.
Miss M is mighty interested in those buttons. And yes, perhaps I should have rethought that idea even though I was super sure they are attached with reinforcements, but she is also very interested in the red tail lights. All those bright colours were a good idea. (BTW, just so you know it took about a dozen photos to get one of M looking at the camera, touching the car and me snapping the photo all at the same time. This little girl is on the move; she's got crawling down and will be walking before very long.)
Second, I was also inspired by yarn recently purchased here in town. It is a variegated green/blue/gray combination that just needed to be knit before I left. Since I had completed a Mock Plaid scarf just recently I was not motivated to do another. Instead this Easy Drop Stitch scarf pattern captured my attention. It is designed by Lila Agnew and can be found at Ravelry. In knitting one tries to avoid dropping stitches, but in this pattern every few rows one drops several stitches at a time to get that open weave. Breaking rules is something I rather enjoy. Here's my nearly finished product drying on the kitchen counter after a quick dunk.
My version ended up being approximately 9.5 feet or 2.9 meters long (all those dropped stitches help elongate the knitting). The scarf is easy to make because there's no purl stitches required; so if you can knit and YO (yarn over) you too can knit this scarf. It will be great to wrap around one's neck a couple of times during the very chilly Minnesota winters. Want another look? Here you go. (This photo better shows off the wavy design element.
So the lack of posts this past week had to do with a whole lot of knitting. Stay tuned because there's even more to come.
