Presents were shared again this year and many had a knitting theme to them. Here are the gifts I received that are completely knitting associated.
Yarn Bombing: The Art of Crochet and Knit Graffiti by Mandy Moore and Leanne Prain. Ny DIL was paying attention to my interest in yarn bombing and selected this one for me. There are very practical directions on how to prepare to yarn bomb, what to watch for and how to get a gang together to create a large-scale yarn bomb. However, inside are some very nice patterns of things to knit as well. There's a pattern for a sweater with a detachable cowl that is very practical and something I am adding to my list of things to knit~~sometime in the future. (If you actually look inside the book you can see a photo of the sweater at the top of a page where Chapter 5 is outlined in the index.)
My other DIL suggested that she and my other son needed stockings of their own as well. And since I have the pattern, I think I'll make all of them to match, because I think there will be additional stockings needed in the years to come.

My other DIL took my suggestion for some on-the-go knitting bags to heart and got me two Chica Yarn Keepers. One is a small single ball bag with a carabiner attached for a quick draw grab and go mission; the other a large bag that will easily accommodate an adult sweater. Both are in this really cute and colourful style and come with the plastic bottom for not only the ability to stand alone, but also for easy cleaning should it fall on a floor say in a theatre, plane or bus. These bags were supported by the Yarn Harlot so I know they are good for traveling.
Not only did I get knitting gifts, but also some knitting requests. One of my DIL had asked me last year about a Christmas stocking that had been made for her years ago. The pattern had been used to knit several stockings for her family members and she wanted her husband, one of my sons, to have one. This year she found the pattern on Etsy and I will be making not only one for him but also M. Here's what that stocking looks like:

It also seems I'll be knitting two additional set of items for M. First I'll knit another range of the food items for M, and of course I'm excited to have an excuse to do them again. Additionally, M's Dad asked about knitted hand puppets. I'll have to look into that, but I promised finger puppets for the time being. He was OK with that compromise as long as I stayed true to the jungle theme M has going on in her bedroom. I see a knitted monkey, tiger, elephant and perhaps a giraffe in her near future.
I'm all set to knit with new items on the docket. And it is great my family is feeling free to ask for things they want too. Here's my to do list:
- Finger puppets
- Knitted food items
- 4 vintage Xmas stockings
This should take me to mid-year!
