I have been remiss in not giving appropriate credit to the person who inspired me to begin blogging. She is a retiring type and will more than likely be embarrassed by this, but Nicole, you more than anyone got me thinking I could write about something I enjoy doing.
Dack, my youngest son, and his wife, Nicole, eat well because they cook and bake well. Both my sons had to learn how to cook as a survival mechanism, mainly for my survival, not theirs. When they were young their dad traveled a lot as traveling salesmen are known to do. That left the three of us having to get a meal on the table at the end of the day. I needed to prepare dinner and wanted the guys to stay in sight; my solution was to get them in the kitchen with me. Once there I put them to work. Today both sons are better and more adventuresome cooks with a wider repertoire than me. Visiting them and having them feed me is such a treat. Nicole has been a good sport in taking up the meal making mantel and has developed into a wonderful cook.
This daughter-in-law has a full-time job and for several years attended university for her masters and worked at the same time. An important fact to add here is she was attending one of the top twenty schools in the U.S. for her field. She was a very busy person and in the midst of the degree planned and celebrated a beautiful homemade wedding. In May of this year Nicole added MBA to her name. Now with time on her hands she looked for something interesting to do and turned to one of her long standing hobbies, photography.
Nicole decided she could combine her two interests, making good food and good photos into one hobby. She started her own blog: Flagels' Food Files The food Dack and Nicole make is diverse, yummy and beautifully photographed. I requested a dinner including walleye fish when I visited and this is what I got:
I watched Nicole write the post about this meal and decided perhaps I could do something like what she'd done. I don't have the gift with photography, but I could create something that documented what I knit in one place. There were several failed starts with different blogging websites. But once I came to start using this product, one that was so intuitive even I could figure it out, I knew I was on my way. And although up to this point I haven't thanked Nicole for her big part in getting me going, I am doing so now.
So an overdue thank you to you Nicole, now others have a more complete story about my blogging.
